Attorney Erin E. Jewell is a partner and Co-Founder of Harty Jewell, PLLC.  Ms. Jewell was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 2005.  Since that time, Ms. Jewell has focused her career on obtaining compensation for those seriously injured as a result of the negligence or recklessness of others.  She has represented and obtained compensation for asbestos victims suffering from asbestos-related diseases caused by occupational and household asbestos exposure, as well as those injured by toxic substances, dangerous drugs and defective devices.

 

Ms. Jewell has significant experience litigating cases both in state and federal courts and obtaining compensation for those seriously injured and in wrongful death cases.  As a trial attorney, Ms. Jewell has prepared and tried cases to verdict, including two of which were reported as “Virginia’s Largest Verdicts” in 2008 and 2012, and has served on trial teams involving other multi-million-dollar product liability verdicts.

 

Ms. Jewell has also recovered workers’ compensation benefits and disability compensation benefits for asbestos victims and other injured persons before the Department of Labor, Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission, and Veteran’s Administration.  In the course of her work representing asbestos victims, Ms. Jewell also routinely prepared estate plans and counsel to clients concerning estate administration when needed. Her practice includes:

  • Preparing and trying cases to verdict for asbestos victims, personal injury victims, and those injured by product defects.

  • Representing individuals who suffer from latent injuries as a result of exposure to toxic substances, dangerous drugs and defective products.

  • Obtaining disability benefits for veterans diagnosed with asbestos-related diseases from the Veteran’s Administration.

  • Representing individuals who are victims of consumer fraud.

  • Estate planning and estate administration.

Community Service:

  • Ms. Jewell is a VFW Auxiliary Member (Post 3219) and volunteered with the VFW’s event for the Second Annual Phoebus Clean Sweep Day.

  • As Chair of the VTLA Women’s Caucus, Ms. Jewell coordinated fundraising efforts for: (1) donations to Reading Enriches All Children (REACH), which resulted in over $2,000 worth of books being donated to homeless and at-risk children in Hampton Roads; and (2) school supply drive resulting in 192 items being donated to children in Puerto Rico following hurricane devastation.

  • Ms. Jewell is a long-time supporter of the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank and led her former firm to win regional recognition for its contributions to the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank by the Attorney General in 2019, and coordinated volunteer opportunities for the firm with the Foodbank.
