The typical legal process

Every case is different. At Harty Jewell, we do not apply cookie cutter solutions to real problems. We take the time to listen to your needs and formulate a tailored solution that best achieves your individual goals.

The typical legal process

While proceedings can be similar, and while the time it takes to obtain an optimal solution for your specific legal issues can generally be predicted, every single case is different. At Harty Jewell, we will take the time to listen to your specific legal needs and goals. Then we work backward from your desired end state to formulate a tailored solution that you are comfortable with and that optimizes your goals. Throughout the process, we make sure that you are informed and prepared every step of the way.

For general litigation matters such as auto accidents, consumer litigation, estate litigation, and other general personal injury or property matters, you generally can expect the case to last approximately six months to a year depending on whether we have to go to trial, and the availability of court room time in the particular court that we have to file your case in.

For products cases, including asbestos and mesothelioma, Camp Lejeune cases, Roundup, Benzene, medical devices, paraquat, and other products liability matters, the case may last significantly longer depending on whether it ends up in state or federal court, the number of defendants in the case, whether it is consolidated in a multi-district litigation panel with other cases, and a multitude of other factors.

For estate planning, it generally takes us between two weeks and one month from the time we obtain all of the necessary information to the time you can complete and execute your estate documents. In emergency situations, we can expedite this process.
